Burn It and Earn It – Cardio Workouts

14-CardioRunning is great, but it can get real boring real quick. Spice up your cardio routine with a wide range of exciting and energizing exercises that will keep you slim and trim.

Body Weight Cardio Routines

We’re talkin’ burpees, pushups, squats, planks, and more! Circuit training using only your body weight isn’t just effective, but it’s also a blast. There are thousands of routines you can pick and choose from all over the internet for beginners and experts alike. Here are a few example routines to get you started:

1: 60s Jump Rope

2:  20 Shoulder Cycles (Both Sides)

3: 20 Hip Cycles

4: 20 Jumping Jacks

1: 10-20 Knee Push Ups

2: 25-30 Bodyweight Squats

3: 5-8 Body Rows

4: 10-20 Lunges (Both Sides)

5: 15-20 Crunches

6: 15-20 Supermans

1: 10-20 Incline Push Ups

2: 20-30 Cossack Squats

3: 10-20 Table Push Ups

4: 10-20 Hip Bridges

5: 30s Plank

In a circuit, you typically want to go through all exercises without rest in between, rest for 30-60 seconds at the end of the round, and then repeat two more times.

Resistance Cardio

Believe it or not, you can incorporate weight training with cardio to get some killer muscle tone and burn mad calories. One great example of a resistance cardio circuit is:

  1. Bench press – max in 60s
  2. Squats – max in 60s
  3. Pullups – 60s
  4. Lunges – 60s each leg
  5. Rest – 60s
  6. Bicep curls – 60s
  7. Bike or jog – 180s
  8. Rest – 60s
  9. Triceps extensions – 60s
  10. Leg extensions – 60s
  11. Leg curls – 60s

Remember to pick weights that are manageable. You want to work your muscles over the entire duration while still challenging yourself. Minimize rest in between exercises and only take rest breaks between rounds.
